The DVD makes it easy to setup and understand. It is a great metal detector for the price with many features that are on much more expensive models; coin ID and depth of target are just two of them. The length of the boom is adjustable and button placement is convenient for small and large hands.

Garett Ace 250 is very easy to use because of factory set controls, plus ease of custom setting. It is lightweight, but well thought out and made. It has five modes of operation, all metal, jewelry, custom, relics, and coins.

Battery life is from 20 to 40 hours from four AA’s and if you turn it off while you’re digging, the batteries last a long, long time. This Garrett metal detector appears to have great potential, especially for its entry level price. It offers good compromise between price and features or performance.

Few users have minor gripes though. The shaft is a bit on the flimsy side, although it is pretty easy to stabilize if you desire. It only has a couple tones; a dull beep for trash or unknown items, and a “ding” for coins. There is no volume knob. This Garrett metal detector is loud. The coin shooting seems good for American coins.
